A little background ...
Christi Hudson and Michele Harris-Padrón, are the Sweet Strings Sisters, two former elementary school teachers who have also been professional musicians. Their blend of diverse styles and interests creates a lively and eclectic mix of vocal and instrumental sounds.
Christi plays the hammered dulcimer, guitar, and ukulele in genres that include old time fiddle tunes and traditional mountain music as well as folk songs. She is currently also a member of Lilies of the West, a five-piece band that plays traditional, old time music.
Michele plays the mountain dulcimer and guitar in genres which include her own original compositions, folk music and hits from the 60s and 70s. She played in the all-female trio Honey Creek and performed on bass with the salsa band Orquesta Sol in the San Francisco Bay area. Also on bass, she played with jazz chanteuse Kitty Margaules and guitarist Joyce Cooling. She has played as a solo act in bars and restaurants in Cancún Mexico as Micaela del Mar and currently plays and sings jazz standards, Mexican pop, bolero and ranchera styles.
